FAQ
The doctor of chiropractic works with the spine and the nervous system. The nervous system is the Communication Network of the body. It goes all throughout the body. Every "body" has one. On that system we have life energy and electical impulses flowing. When these flow without interference, excellent health is the expected result. You feel fantastic physically.
But where there is interference, there can be a breakdown or reduction in health, well being, function or performance. Thus the goal of Chiropractic and the Chiropractor, is to first locate the points of interference, if there are any, and then REMOVE them... the body will then rebalance and heal itself on it's own, which it has the natural ability to do anyway... as long as the interference has been removed.
Pain is a Result of a Problem
Pain is a symptom of something that is wrong, an alarm for the body. Traditional methods of treatment usually look at ridding the body of symptoms, not the cause of symptoms. This is similar to muffling a fire alarm when it goes off because the noise bothers you... the fire does not go away simply because we cannot hear the alarm. To the contrary, it can get much worse and do terrible permanent damage. Likewise with the human body. Chiropractic does not use drugs to rid the body of pain, it searches for the cause of the pain and treats it directly, as described above.
Chiropractic Education
Many people are unaware of the educational requirements for Doctors of Chiropractic.
Chiropractic college is a four year graduate program completed after the student has fulfilled the mandatory requirements in an undergraduate program, usually attaining a science dgree. The chiropractic student completes a clinical residency program at the college as well as a on-site internship at an office in the field.
Doctors of Chiropractic are required to pass National and State licensing examinations and must adhere to strict quality standards of care set by the State. These are the same requirements that are placed on medical doctors.
Doctors of Chiropractic are very well educated in the healing arts and can very effectively find the cause of a problem and address it directly. In fact, independent studies have now shown Chiropractic to be one of the best approaches to a number of the health problems that people suffer from.
Chiropractic care has a successful track record helping many different conditions and symptoms people experience.
The underlying reason for success in a wide variety of problems goes back to the fundemental principles of chiropractic - the relationship between the spine and the nervous system and the scientific fact - the brain controls and coordinates all functions in your body.
Conditions such as low back pain, leg or sciatic pain, neck pain, pain in the mid back, joint pain, knee and foot pain, shoulder and wrist pain, headaches, migraines, asthma, digestive disturbance, injuries from sports or accidents all have a proven record of responding to chiropractic care.
The secret is the nerve system, the human spine, and spinal alignment or misalignment.
The back is a complicated thing. The spinal column contains more than 1,500 muscles and ligaments, and 51 nerves feeding communication between the brain and the different parts of the body. The spinal column has 24 bones called vertebrae. Spinal discs are cushions between the vertebrae which act as shock absorbers and help the back move safely and flexibly.
Nearly all vertebrae have four joints and move in six directions. When this motion is restricted it can trigger ligament strain, muscle damage and nerve stress. Chiropractic "Adjustments" restore proper, unresticted motion which in turn permits all the nerves to function properly.
Chiropractic care is gentle, safe and proven effective.
Most people notice improvements in mobility and a reduction of symptoms within 1 to a few well planned chiropractic house call visits. Your individual results will vary and depend on a number of factors. How long you've had the condition, How severe is the underlying damage to the muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves. Your overall health status. Your adherence to your prescribed care plan.
The chiropractic house call provides the greatest opportunity to produce the fastest results based on the four reasons stated earlier on this page.
Insurance coverage varies depending on your policy. Many insurance policies cover chiropractic care and you may also use your HSA account in many cases. We will provide you the necessary forms for you to submit to your carrier.
Insurance is a contract between you and your health insurance carrier.
